c. 1870
The Caryatid (or female bust) featured on this pitcher’s handle was a signature feature for the Meriden Britannia Company during the 1860s and 1870s. This model corresponds to the figural hollowware designs produced by the Meriden Britannia Co. and documented in their post-Civil War illustrated catalogs.
Condition Notes
The exterior silverplate is in remarkably excellent condition, with pitting and oxidation on the interior that is characteristic of age.
